Questions owners and advisors ask us

Straight answers about who we are, what we buy, how a deal works, and what happens afterward. Anything else — just ask, confidentially.

About the Firm

Who we are

Are you a private equity fund?

No. LUX Capital is a private investment firm that acquires and holds businesses directly for the long term. We are not a short-hold financial buyer raising a fund to flip companies — we aim to own and improve the businesses we acquire for years to come.

Where is LUX Capital based, and where do you acquire?

We are based in Minnesota and acquire established service businesses anywhere in the United States.

Who will I deal with if I reach out?

You will deal directly with founder Brad Wochnick and the LUX Capital team — not an investment committee or a rotating cast of analysts.

Fit & Criteria

What we buy

What size of business do you acquire?

We typically partner with established service businesses generating roughly $1 million to $3 million in EBITDA and $1 million to $25 million in annual revenue, with consistent cash flow and loyal customers.

What industries do you focus on?

Building services (HVAC, commercial painting, flooring, janitorial), specialty construction, facilities management and maintenance, landscaping and outdoor services, industrial services, and niche professional services.

What makes a business a strong fit?

Founder or family ownership, consistent cash flow, strong customer retention, minimal customer concentration, and a management team willing to stay on or transition smoothly. The full profile is on our investment criteria page.

Process & Structure

How a deal works

Do I have to sell the whole company?

Not necessarily. We offer full or partial exits and can structure a deal around your goals — whether you want to step away entirely, transition gradually, or stay involved in a business you still care about.

How long does the process take?

It depends on your goals and timeline. Some owners want to move quickly; others plan years ahead. We move at a pace that respects your team and avoids disruption to day-to-day business. See the four phases on Our Process.

Do you work with brokers, attorneys, and other advisors?

Yes. We regularly speak with advisors representing owners and welcome introductions from brokers, attorneys, accountants, and wealth managers.

After the Sale

What happens next

What happens to my team and culture after a sale?

We preserve company culture and customer relationships. Our approach protects the people and the values that built the business, while bringing disciplined financial planning and support for growth.

Who runs the business after closing?

The leadership team that made the business successful. We look for management teams willing to stay on, and we support them with capital, structure, and strategic perspective rather than replacing them.

Is my inquiry confidential?

Always. Every conversation is confidential and without obligation, whether you are ready to move now or simply planning ahead for the future.
